Using resin and metal leaf as his primary materials, Roeper creates an imaginary world of landscapes and imagery which invite the viewer into a state of quiet contemplation. The luxurious textures and the soft, abstract shapes evoke a sense of shelter and belonging- places where we can hide from the external world, or even get lost in. Roeper has been building bespoke furniture for clients such as Dior and Louis Vuitton for over two decades- his expertise in the handmade is is evident in the masterfully-crafted layers and exquisite finishes, which illustrate his approach to art not as a flat surface, but as a sculptural, immersive presence.
